Ali Mousavi ​ 

Ali Mousavi, CEO, MOC Biotechnologies Inc,

Dr. Ali Mousavi is an innovative entrepreneur and interdisciplinary researcher at the nexus of biomechanics and biomedical engineering. He has pioneered advancements in bioprinting for diverse applications, from medical devices to implants, and has launched knowledge-based companies and startups in biomedical engineering. MOC Biotechnologies is one such company. It is at the forefront of biotech innovation, leveraging lobster shell waste and biodegradable polymers like PLA to create cutting-edge bio-inks for the company's novel bioprinting applications. The company's unique approach transforms sustainable materials into advanced solutions, revolutionizing the field of bioprinting. Ali was recently recognized as Innovative Business of the Year By ISANS and was a finalist in the 2023 World Entrepreneurship Competition for groundbreaking contributions to the industry. Ali is a former Assistant Professor at IAUN and has authored innovative textbooks for university students.


Guerin Sykes  

Guerin Sykes, Executive Chef, Sodexo Canada

Nova Scotian Guerin Sykes has spent the last twenty-five years honing his culinary skills in Ontario. After graduating from Niagara College and completing his apprenticeship. He then went on to complete his Certified Chef de Cuisine academics at Humber College. Chef Sykes opened the first of his restaurants at the age of 21.

​Ownership and the pride that comes with it sparked within him the desire to further his career in Executive Chef positions. York University and McMaster University introduced him to the importance of nutrition and sparking a love of food in students. The position of National Corporate Chef for Rational Canada gave him the opportunity to work with Chefs from around the world. For the last eight years, Guerin has called Prince Edward County home, a place known for wineries and breweries. Chef Sykes opened Signal Brewery, from kitchen design to menu creation. His success garnered him an Entrepreneurial Spirit Award and a feature by New York Times Travel. Sykes is now starting anew career as the Executive Chef at St. Francis Xavier University. This opportunity brings Guerin home, and allows him to complete his journey as a Chef full circle.
